Thanks to Vickie for helping a customer and sending this to me.  Hope it will help someone else . . .

First, here is how I organize my digital scrapbook kits.  I have Windows
Vista, so I’m not sure if this is the same for you or not.  Right click
on the little Windows icon on the bottom left of your screen and then
click on “Explore”.
This will open up a window to show you all the files on your computer. 
Scrapbook Max stores it’s kits in special scrapbook max folders so that
you can see them when you use the program.  However, I don’t move my
kits that are not scrapbook max into the program.  I just open them from
where they are.

OK, In EXPLORE, I create a folder called SCRAPBOOK.  In that Scrapbook
Folder, I create a folder by each designer’s name.  Then, when I
download kits from those designers, I make a folder inside their folder
with each kit in it.So for instance, it would look something like this:

SCRAPBOOK
-DesignerDigital
—SpringKit
—HappinessKit
-DigizinesTeriHanson
—ArmyLife
—HopesGarden
-Scrapgirls
—JellybeansKit
—EasterKit
(I just made up those names.  Obviously, you would name them whatever
the names of the kits you have are.)

Now, when you are ready to start scrapping, Open Scrapbook Max.
Choose “Create a New Scrapbook”
Click on “Blank Scrapbook”
Type in the Name of the scrapbook you are making.

Next, once you set up what size page you are making, etc. and you are
ready to start your page, first you will want to pull in your background
paper you want to use.
Here’s how to use one of Teri’s papers:
Double click on the white page (or go to page/settings in the menu at
the top of the page.)
A box will open for page settings.
* Check the box that says BACKGROUND IMAGE
Now a box will open that says Select Image
* Click on the box at the bottom left of the screen that says BROWSE
This will open up all the files on your computer.
Find the folder SCRAPBOOK (that you made) and open it
Click on the folder that says DIGIZINESbyTERI (or whatever you named it)
Click on the folder that has the kit you want to use. (I am using one
called Photo Collage.)
Now I am going to pick the paper I want to use as my background. (I am
going to use one called Paper14.)
Click on the paper you want to use and then you will see a box that
shows your paper.  Click on OK.  Now that paper should be your background.

Next: Add elements
Click on the Red flower in the top bar to add an element.
The “Select Embellishment” box will open.
Click on the box on the bottom left that says “BROWSE”
Again, find your SCRAPBOOK folder
Click on your Teri Hanson folder
Click on the folder of the kit you are using
Now you will see all the elements in the kit.
Choose the element you want – just as you would if you were using a
scrapbook max kit.
